...TMZ also report that the singer believes that he has had a “religious enlightening” encouraging him to cancel the tour for the sake of his health....

Earlier this week, Justin Bieber upset his fans when he cancelled the last 14 dates of his ‘Purpose’ world tour, calling off scheduled performances in North America, Japan, Singapore and the Philippines.

The 23-year-old star cited “unforeseen circumstances” for the cancellation, with it later being speculated that Justin was suffering from exhaustion.

However, sources close to Hillsong Church, where Justin has frequented in the last two years, have now told TMZ that he cancelled the tour after “redirecting his life to Christ”.

TMZ also report that the singer believes that he has had a “religious enlightening” encouraging him to cancel the tour for the sake of his health.

Hillsong Church pastor, Carl Lentz, had previously spoken out to praise Justin, insisting that the star uses his faith in God to guide him in life.

He said at the time: “We don’t pay him to attend [church]. He comes on his own.

Justin cancelled 14 tour dates.

“I think that Justin is a good Christian. I don’t think his problems are behind him, but we all have to deal with other stuff to come. His relationship with Jesus is changing his life daily.

“It is one of those things where you never really get it, it takes a while to keep growing as a person. Every day he is getting older, and with each chapter comes new growth.

“This is what conference is all about. Everyone here would buy a ticket and be a part of it. He feels like it is a big part of his year.”

Justin Bieber performs in India.

The star apologised for cancelling the shows.

Tickets to Justin’s cancelled dates will be fully refunded, with a statement on the star’s website saying: “After careful consideration [Justin] has decided he will not be performing any further dates.”

Justin later told TMZ: “I’m sorry for anybody who feels disappointed or betrayed.”
